Here is the next section of the basement that we will be magically transforming. We have called this the "dead room" ever since we bought the house. Partly because there was a dead raccoon under the stairs, and partly because of the hideous paint job someone did down here, and partly because of the mold, and stench, and rotting wood, and leaking walls, and asbestos tile. Yikes!
Tonight, we donned our masks, and scraped up asbestos tile. We also scraped rotting and bubbled waterproofing paint off the walls. Terry tore out all of the wood and paneling along the stairway.
Tomorrow, he will figure out the electrical, I will sanitize the floor, and hopefully throw down some primer. The walls need more than just paint though, They're pretty rough, and prone to leaking, so I will look into a better sealant than whatever was used before.
We've been here before, this is child's play...
