Birthday 51

Best Birthday weekend ever!!!

We left Friday morning...
me and Terry, and Bob and Peggy.

Off to Niagara Falls for the weekend.

Early Saturday morning,
on our way to the State Park.

We went straight to the
"Maid of the Mist".

We are now on the bridge to the tower,
where we will get on to elevators
to take us down to the dock.

The people looked like ants down there.

They gave us our ponchos and we were ready to go...

There's the bridge,
and the tower we came down in.

Waiting to get on the boat.

Here we go...

Bob's excited.

Motoring straight toward the falls,
and the mist is kicking up.

The mist turns into driving rain...

and then you feel like your in a hurricane.

Then it's over and you can't believe
you just boated that close to the falls.

Amazing.

We walked along the edge of the falls.

Hair ruined from the "Maid of the Mist".

It was quite possibly
the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Saturday night,
we went to the Seneca Casino.

Terry was losing money.

Cool place, and we had fun.

We left for home on Sunday,
and took a slow drive around Lake Erie.

Loved the city of Dunkirk, New York.

View of Lake Erie.

We had such a great weekend.
Lot's of good food, and sightseeing,
and good fun with Bob and Peggy.

Happy Birthday to me.

Art is Everywhere

It took me three days,
 but I finally finished grouting.

Seems silly,
when all is said and done,
but I just like it.

Little surprises,
little pieces of art
where you wouldn't expect them.

Still working on the logging saw for my brother.
A few more trees...

Birds and Trees

Finished filling in all of the background,
and I used up all of the leftover scrap tile
from when we did the shower
 in the basement bathroom.

Small victory.

Strangest job I've ever been asked to do...

My brother wants me to paint a scene on this old logging saw.

I decided to paint a row of trees...

Tonight, I grouted half of my bird mosaic,
and my hands were raw from the cement,
and I got bored...

so I painted some more trees on the saw.

I think it will look pretty cool.

Must Love Birds

I'm working slowly on this little design.

A little bit every night...

Of course...

there's a Robin and a Cardinal,

and a Blue Jay,

and some random bird I found on Google images.

It always looks like a crazy mess
while I'm working on it,
but it will look good when it's all done.

I hope.

Took a While to Regroup After That Bathroom Project...

After finishing the big bathroom redo,
we took some time to regroup.

(My Morning Glory's finally bloomed).

I had a tooth pulled
which made me feel like crap for a few days,
and Terry worked on cleaning the garage,
 after work all week.

Then I came up with a small project
that would get us moving again.

I want to put some walls back up in the basement,
that (sort of) close off the work room and laundry room
from the rest of the basement.

There were walls here when we moved in,
but we had to gut everything due to mold.

We started with this little wall that separates
the laundry room from the rest of the basement.

Well...
this spot is screaming for a mosaic tile design.

Here we go...
I am determined to use up alot of the extra
unused tile I have laying around.

I started with some pencil tiles
my brother gave me a long time ago,
and added some tile left over
from when we redid the fireplace in the livingroom.

Good start.

Now I am cracking tiles
that were left over
from when we built the shower
 in the basement bath.

Re-use, repurpose, recycle.
