One House, Two House

Where are we?

In Nick's basement.

Nick and Colleen closed on their new house yesterday,
and here we are getting ready to paint the ceiling in the basement.

But let's take a tour of the new house...

Backyard, garage.

The back of the house.

Big Uhaul.

Front of the house.

One major issue here...

This tree.

A Russian Olive that went terribly bad.

It must go, but the new owners are not sure.

It must go.

Here's Nick and Colleen's brother, Brian.
Such great kids.

The kitchen...

The family room...

Terry is already tired.

The master bedroom.
Looks roomy, but the king sized bed hasn't arrived yet.

New toilet for the bathroom.

Colleen's dad coming to strip wallpaper.

That's all for the tour.

We came home and got busy on our own house.

Why are we repainting the dining room ceiling?...

Why are we repainting the basement?...

What are all of these boxes for?...

A big announcement coming soon.

Our Tax Dollars at Work

So, funny story...
 the other day,
Terry asks me, "Do you think if we called the city
that they might take down these dying trees?"

and I replied, "Ha, no way".

Monday morning, a city worker is banging on the door,
and informs me that they are going to take down
our two dying trees.

This one on the side street,
and another at the back of the property (below).

They were quick, did one before lunch,
and one after.

There's the end of it. All done.

While they were at lunch,
neighbors came and grabbed up all of the wood
 for their fireplaces (I guess).

In the middle of all of this,
some more city workers showed up
to replace the stop sign that someone took out
during the icy morning last week.

For all of the bad things I have to say about Center Line,
I have twice as many good things to say about our city services.

They used a giant hydraulic thing
to pound that sign in.

They returned promptly after lunch
to take down the tree at the back of the property.

All done.
Good job.
Kudos.
