Day #16 Bath Redo

My brother loaned us his heavy duty tile saw
(thank goodness).
But we won't be needing this for a few days.

Here's the new doorway threshold,
we need to prep for.

Broke out the mortar bed...

Laid some plywood.

Then we laid the backerboard,
starting at the back of the bathroom,
working our way to the door.

Thinset under backer board.

When we got to the dorway,
the threshold did not fit.

After multiple trial runs
and making sure everything fit just right,
it still didn't fit right.
There was a lot of cursing,
 and a lot of recutting,
 and finally everything came together.

Everything ends up being so difficult and time consuming.

This was the arch over the shower.
We had to fill this in with some backer board.

More special cuts and sizing,

more taping and thinset.

Taped and mudded this corner section.

The floor is ready for tile.

This wall still needs a lot of work.

We are in the nitty-gritty ugly part of this now.
There are so many little details to work out,
and every one seems to pose a unique new challenge.

We are exhausted and frustrated,
but this isn't our first rodeo.

We will get through this.

Tomorrow is the big bathtub reglazing job.

yea.
