Today, I dallied around with the thought of something grand, and I even sucked my brother into my grandiose dream. The Wayne County Treasurer is auctioning off homes in Detroit for a pittance, and I happened upon my Grandparent's old home on the auction block. The wheels in my brain started spinning, and I called my big brother. I knew that he and I could take this house back, and return it to what it once was. We chatted and texted back and forth all day about how cool it would be, the logistics, and the certain hardships.
Yes, this is the same house as the first picture. Hard to believe, but true. Time and neglect have not been kind to this old house. My Grandparent's kept this house immaculate, and as a child I thought it was a mansion. Grandpa made it appear larger than life.
The day brought about some realism, and some pessimistic views about my dream; time, distance, danger, and lack of an investor.
I really wish I was twenty years younger. My brother and I share the same "house flipping" dream, and it's a shame that we didn't discover this passion a lot sooner.
Back to reality, and the house that still needs my attention.
Terry and I went to the Home Depot and picked up some more cement for the sidewalk project.
Daylight is dwindling, and we don't have much time left for outdoor projects.
Wow ! Trees are on sale. I just had to grab these two beauties. A Cleveland Pear and a Dwarf White Crabapple. $12 dollars a piece. After leveling the property of trees, we need to replace some nature. Kill a tree, plant a tree. A rule to live by.
This weekend, we will finish off the cement crap, and plant some trees.
Carry on...
and Go Tigers.
