I Really Don't Like Fall, and I Hate the Color Orange

Went to Kutchey Farmer's Market early this morning, for some pumpkins and some freaky decorative gourds. I love these things, and they make great table centerpieces, for the season.

There they are; all ugly, and orange, and ready for the slimy carving tradition . Sandy picked out the large pumpkin and I chose the smaller one. I never liked Halloween, and as a child, I pretended to not feel well (to shorten the "trick-or-treating" ritual), and my parents would make my older siblings share their candy with me. Ha, all the candy, and none of the work.

We have been going to Kutchey's roadside market for many years. Through some investigation we have found that the Kutchey family owned a good part of the farmland in Warren and the surrounding areas, way back when. Over the last century, they moved their farm up north and sold off all of their land, except for the little plot on Ten Mile & Ryan, where they truck in some of their crops to sell.

We always stop there in the Spring for vegetable plantings and annual flowers. In the fall, that's where we get our pumpkins, and today, a big bag of corn.

And you can always be sure to get some pleasant conversation from Dave, their best family salesman.

Our new slab of cement is curing nicely...

but it seems, our dog Shorty has found a place to store her soccer balls ???

Terry bought some more cement today, and the finishing of this project is coming...

Shorty better find a new place to keep her balls.
